Frequently Asked Questions

Simple answers to help you get started

We know this is a different way to cool things – especially if you’ve always used mains power or a diesel setup. Below are the most common questions people ask us about how Suncool Coldrooms work, what’s included, and whether it’s the right fit for your situation.

If your question isn’t covered here, just [get in touch] as we’re always happy to talk things through.

GENERAL

What temperature do your coldrooms maintain?

All our systems are designed to hold a consistent 2°C temperature, provided loading and airflow are managed correctly.

Not for day-to-day use. Our systems are solar powered with a battery bank designed for overnight operation. For longer cloudy periods, you can connect an external power source using the built-in backup charger.

Sure can! They are built to store enough battery power to run through the night without sunlight.

That depends on load size, insulation, and usage, but typically overnight operation is not a problem. For extended cloudy weather, you can plug in mains or generator power via the integrated backup.

They run much quieter than a typical diesel setup, with no generator hum.

MOBILE COLDROOMS

Can I tow the trailer myself?

Yes. We’ll match the unit to your towing capacity and provide a full handover, so you know how to set up and tow it properly.

We offer a range of internal volumes to suit produce, drinks, supplies, or prepared food. Get in touch with your expected load and we’ll advise what is the best fit.

Each trailer comes with solar panels, battery bank, refrigeration system, LED lighting, and simple controls. Options like shelving, meat rails, and tie-downs are also available.

We’re based in SEQ and prefer handover at our workshop so we can show you how it all works. Delivery can be arranged, if needed.

RETROFITS

Can you retrofit an old coldroom?

We can if the room is well-insulated, with sound seals and structure. We can usually fit a solar + battery refrigeration package.

Not necessarily. In many cases we can leave existing systems in place for added redundancy.

We can explore ground-mount solar or split-array options depending on your site layout.

Yes! We design the retrofit system to meet your required capacity and target temperature.

Still unsure or have more questions?

We’re happy to answer specific questions about your setup. Whether you’re out bush, on a worksite or market, or preparing for harvest, we’ll help you figure out what will work best in your situation.
